What Is the Best Age to Start Swimming Lessons?
by 2kol1nefes Team
One of the most common questions we hear from parents visiting Bodrum is: when should my child start swimming lessons?
30 Months - 4 Years: Water Introduction
At 2kol1nefes, we welcome children from 30 months old. At this stage, we focus on water familiarization, building trust, and overcoming any initial fear. Through play-based activities and storytelling, toddlers learn to feel comfortable in water with parental support.
Ages 4-6: The Foundation Years
This is the golden window for developing water comfort and basic safety skills. We focus on floating, kicking, and breath control in a fun, play-based environment. Children at this age respond beautifully to our storytelling teaching method.
Ages 6-9: Building Technique
Children in this range can learn proper stroke technique. We introduce freestyle and backstroke with structured drills adapted to their attention span.
Ages 9-12: Refining Skills
Older children can work on all four competitive strokes, endurance, and water safety awareness. Many kids at this age progress rapidly.
Our Recommendation
The ideal age to start is between 2.5 and 6 years, but it is never too late. With 16 years of experience, we have seen children of all ages learn to love the water. Every child who visits Bodrum deserves to feel confident and safe.
